I started work in NHS Pathology laboratories in 1976, spending most of my time in haematology and Blood Transfusion. During the 1990’s I was actively involved in laboratory computerisation becoming responsible for development/maintenance of such a system working across a group of hospitals. During 1999-2002 I did a law degree before successfully completing an MSc in computing. I joined the Blood Stocks Management Scheme in June 2003 after a year as a lecturer in Higher education.
