Participation in the scheme is voluntary and open to all hospitals whose local blood centre is a member of the scheme.  Currently, to register with the scheme you must be part of the following Blood Services:

• National Blood Service of England and North Wales (NHSBT)
• Welsh Blood Service (WBS)
• Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS)
• Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS)
